Activities

The MOMS Club offers friendship, fun activities, informative meetings, and moral support for stay at home mothers and their families. Regardless of their economic or cultural background, age, or religion, club members and their families are entitled to the following benefits:

Activity groups:

·         Cooking Club – Gathers once a month to prepare a meal, typically based on a theme, share recipes and exchange ideas on how to cook nutritionally for your family.

·         Scrapbooking Group – Meets once a month in an open creative process where moms can work on scrapbooks while the children play in a playroom nearby.

·         Book Club – Meets every other month. Various titles and discussions are decided by the group. Past books include Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety by : Judith Warner and Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife by Peggy Vincent.

·         Annual Socials / Parties - Throughout the year we also plan a Valentine's Exchange, a Halloween party, a Mothers Day Celebration and an End of the Year Banquet.

Community service projects - benefit children and families in our local community. Our past service projects have included the JamPacks program, the Mother to Mother Fund, Reston InterFaith and Fairfax Hospitals Children's Wing

·         Field Trips - Sometimes we have a club-wide field trip to such places as the: National Zoo, National Aquarium, Natural History Museum, Cox Farm Pumpkin Patch, Milwaukee Frozen Custard tour, Fire Station and bumper bowling.

·         Fun and educational activities - day trips to local parks, bookstores, member's home, etc.

·         Helping Hands Committee - provides a "helping hand" to members that are in need of some assistance. If you would like to help cook meals for one of our members, please contact Melissa at banditskeeper@aol.com .

·         Lunch-Out - Once a month we schedule a lunch out in the local area.

·         Mom's Night Out - Once every other month the moms meet in the evening to enjoy either dinner at an area restaurant, movie and dessert, or get-togethers at members' homes.

·         Monthly Member Business Meeting

·         Park Days - Depending on the weather, we meet at area parks.

·         Playgroups -Twice a month we have Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and School Age playgroups. Playgroups may meet either at a members' home, or the hostess may select an outside venue. (illness guidelines apply) Please email Marissa at momsclubcsr@yahoo.com to join a playgroup one you become a member.

·         Sunshine/Social Committee - plans the various potlucks and parties held throughout the year, as well as take charge of the children' room at the Business Meetings.
